Orthodontics (Braces & Aligners)

Straight Teeth, Confident Smile, Without Compromise

At Prudhoe Dental Practice, we believe a well-aligned smile boosts confidence, improves oral health, and often simplifies daily care. Whether you prefer clear aligners or traditional braces, we offer personalised orthodontic solutions to help you achieve a straighter, healthier smile.

Our Orthodontic Treatments

Clear Aligners

A modern, discreet option, these virtually invisible aligners are removable, comfortable and ideal for adults or teens who want to straighten teeth without noticeable braces.

Fixed Braces (Metal Brackets)

Traditional braces remain the most reliable method for complex or precise tooth movements. With fixed braces, we can correct crooked teeth, spacing issues, bite problems, and more.

Cosmetic Fixed Braces

An aesthetic alternative to metal braces, tooth-coloured or clear brackets offer a more subtle look while delivering the same effective results.

Who Needs Orthodontics?

  • Crooked, crowded, or overlapping teeth.

  • Bite problems, overbite, underbite, crossbite, or open bite.

  • Uneven spacing or gaps between teeth.

  • Anyone who wants easier cleaning, better gum health, and a more balanced appearance.

Is It Right for You?

Orthodontics can benefit many people, teens and adults alike. During your initial assessment, we will discuss whether clear aligners or braces are best suited to your teeth, lifestyle, and long-term goals.

FAQs

1

How long does orthodontic treatment usually take?

Treatment time varies depending on the complexity of corrections needed. Simple cases might take 6–12 months; more comprehensive adjustments may take 18–24 months or longer. We will give you an estimated timeline during your assessment.

2

Most patients experience mild discomfort or pressure after aligner changes or brace adjustments, typically for a day or two. This is normal and usually manageable with mild pain relief (e.g. over-the-counter paracetamol/ibuprofen).

Do braces or aligners hurt?

3

Are clear aligners better than braces?

Neither is universally “better”; both have advantages. Clear aligners are discreet and removable, while braces are often more predictable for complex movements. We will recommend the best option based on your needs and lifestyle.

4

Will I need retainers afterward?

Yes. Retainers are essential to keep teeth in their new position. Without them, teeth can gradually shift back. We will provide guidance and supply retainers as part of your treatment plan.

5

Can adults get orthodontic treatment?

Absolutely! Many of our patients are adults. As long as your teeth and gums are healthy, age is not a barrier to achieving a straighter smile.
