General Dentistry
Your Foundation for Lifelong Oral Health
At Prudhoe Dental Practice, we believe that a healthy, confident smile starts with prevention, consistent care, and early detection. Our General Dentistry services are designed to keep your teeth and gums in excellent condition.
What We Provide
Check-Ups & Prevention
Regular dental check-ups are more than just a quick look they are a chance to assess the health of your teeth, gums, bite, and overall oral hygiene. During every routine visit we:
Examine teeth for decay, wear or early signs of trouble.
Review gum health and check for inflammation or signs of gum disease.
Provide personalised advice on brushing, flossing, diet, and at home oral care habits to prevent problems before they develop.
Fillings & Restorations
If decay or wear has affected your tooth, we restore it using high quality, tooth coloured fillings that blend seamlessly with your natural teeth. The aim is to preserve strength, restore chewing function, and keep your smile both healthy and aesthetically pleasing.
Gum Care
Healthy gums are the foundation of your smile. Whether it’s mild gum sensitivity or more advanced gum issues, we offer tailored treatments to manage and restore gum health, protecting against gum disease and supporting long-term oral wellbeing.
Why It Matters
Good general dentistry is about much more than a bright smile. Preventive care helps avoid chronic issues, painful problems, and costly treatments later on. By staying proactive, you protect your natural teeth and save time, discomfort, and money in the long run.
Who It’s For
Practically everyone. From children having their first check-up to adults after years of wear, to seniors wanting to preserve oral health regular general dental care benefits all.

FAQs
1
How often should I attend for a check-up and hygiene visit?
For most patients, we recommend a check-up (and hygiene visit if needed) every 6 to 12 months. However, the ideal frequency depends on your oral health, age, and risk factors we will advise what’s best for you during your appointment.
2
Are dental check-ups painful or uncomfortable?
Not at all! Most of our check-ups are quick and comfortable. If we need to do a cleaning or restoration, we take care to use gentle, modern techniques to ensure your comfort.
3
Do I really need a professional cleaning if I brush and floss regularly at home?
Yes, even with excellent at-home care, some plaque and tartar can build up in hard-to-reach places. Professional cleaning helps remove this deposit and prevents gum disease and tooth decay.
4
Will I always need X-rays at a check-up?
Not always. X-rays are only taken when clinically necessary for example, to check between teeth, under fillings, or assess bone health. We’ll explain if we recommend them and why.
5
I’m nervous about the dentist, is your practice gentle and friendly?
Absolutely. We pride ourselves on a calm, welcoming environment. We’ll always take time to explain what we are doing, answer your questions, and ensure you feel comfortable throughout.
